Prop 8

Protect Traditional Marriage! I have recently been stumbling across others journals defending the stopping of Prop 8, which would legalize Gay Marriage in california. I just thought I'd counter act those with my own opinion, along with some factual backup.

I respectfully disagree. If Homosexuals are allowed to marry in my state, it WILL affect me. Not only now, but in the future as well. I'm going to be raising children in a world where Gays and Lesbians will be overturning my children's chances at proper education. Our governor has already thought about passing a bill in the near future that states: ""Mom and Dad" as well as "husband and wife" have been banned from California schools under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who with his signature also ordered public schools to allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, if they choose."

Just because he is trying to protect Homosexuals decisions. If this ends up happening, do you realize how many problems this is going to cause for our future children? How many girls and boys are going to end up being sexually harrassed? This is outrageous! If Gays and Lesbians are allowed to marry, we as a state are going to suffer some terrible consequences. As TVC chairman Rev.Louis P. Sheldon stated: “It is absolutely essential that Proposition 8 be passed – both to protect children and families and to send a strong message to the judges about liberal judicial activism.” Let me give you a few examples:

1. Children in public schools will be taught that same-sex marriage is just as good as traditional marriage.

The California Education Code already requires that health education classes instruct children about marriage. (§51890) if prop 8 passes, there will be serious fights and challenges between the secular school system, and the rights of parents to teach thier children their ownn moral beliefs.

2. Churches may be sued over their tax exempt status if they refuse to allow same-sex marriage ceremonies in their religious buildings open to the public.

3. Ministers who preach against same-sex marriages may be sued for “hate speech” and risk government fines.

4. It will cost you money. This change in the definition of marriage will bring a cascade of lawsuits, including some already lost (like photographers now cannot refuse to photograph gay marriages, doctors cannot now refuse to perform artificial insemination of gays even given other willing doctors). Even if courts eventually find in favor of a defender of traditional marriage (highly improbable given today’s activist judges), think of the money – your tithe money – that will be spent on such legal battles.

5. Religious adoption agencies will be challenged by government agencies to give up their long-held right to place children only in homes with both a mother and a father. Catholic Charities in Boston already closed its doors in Massachusetts because courts legalized same-sex marriage there.

Anyway, this is just my opinion. I'm not trying to get into a fight over this (thats the last thing I'd want to resort to) but I felt that I should also share my views and beliefs on the matter.

If you were a TRUE friend....>.>

I'm back everyone! My goodness, what an amazing trip! I'll post pictures as soon as I get them onto my aunts computer. First off, London was HOT! It was 85 degrees and sunny the whole time we were there, and believe me, when your expecting a country to be overcast and rainy the whole time, it's a shocker when the weather changes. Scotland held it's reputation though. It may have been wet and cold, but it sure was gorgeous! Especially the Gardens! I cant wait to show you! And I saw SO many cool Harry Potter sites! Like the tree Malfoy jumped out of in the 4th movie, and the plkace Neville fell off the brromstick in the 1st one. Oh, and the Great Hall to! :) Anyway, like I said, I'll post pics when I can. And I'm having a party for a few friends of mine. You know who you are. ;)
